Description
An easy hike generally following the contours around the south end of Deer Lake Mesa. From Ute Gulch, climb slighly along a pleasant trail with views across the valley to the south and east to Aspen Springs Camp - one of the prettiest trail camps at Philmont.
On the Way
Stop at Ute Gulch to pick up food and some fresh fruit.
Water
Water is available at Harlan, Ute Gulch, and Aspen Springs, but not along the route.
